Farm
Market Opens
The Alcona Farm Market is
open twice during the week during the growing season. It is open on Wednesdays
from 4:30 to 7 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The market features
locally grown vegetables and fruits as well as fresh pork products, bread,
pastry, eggs, and locally made pet food and cosmetic products. This is
the second year for this local event. According to this year's market master,
Denny Bordner, "We learned a lot in our first year and customers know we
have good in-season produce. We also learned people have a good time when
they come to the market, it truly is farmers, friends and food." The market
is located at the MSUE/USDA building located at 320 US-23, just 1/8 of
a mile south of the light at M-72 and US-23. There is parking on the grounds
at the back of the market and in the Northland Credit Union next door.
The weekly produce choices
will vary depending on weather and demand. For more information, contact
Bordner at etuxfarm@gmail.com. In order to receive weekly updates of market
produce send an e-mail address to Diana Zeimen at dzeimen@gmail.com. |
